Dr. Emily L. Dennis is an Assistant Professor in the Counseling and Human Development program at Walsh University. She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling and Human Development Services from Kent State University. Her previous education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Ohio State University in psychology and history of art and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Art Therapy from Ursuline College. Dr. Dennis is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Ohio, and her clinical work has focused on children, adolescents, and families across a variety of settings.
Her scholarly and clinical interests center on professional counselor identity development, relational boundaries, creativity in counseling, emotional intelligence in counselor education, and maternal mental health. She has presented at state, regional, and national conferences and actively mentors graduate student research.
Dr. Dennis previously served four years as a trustee on the Association for Creativity in Counseling board and currently serves as President-Elect of the Eastern Ohio Counseling Association, where she is committed to strengthening professional advocacy, community engagement, and continuing education opportunities for counselors across the region. She is dedicated to preparing compassionate, competent counselors who integrate creativity, reflection, and evidence-based practice in service of others.
